Unusual Trips for Exceptional People
Since 1986

The best way to move through life
is on a bicycle....

Blue Marble's Discovery is a program of cycle voyages for individualistic, curious, adventurous adults, young in fact or young at heart. The pace of a bike trip is ideal for exploration and impromptu discovery. And cycling fends off the thousands of pounds you would otherwise gain eating yourself silly every night.

Our guests are atypical of the world that travels by bike. Not youth hostelers or campers, not your boss on an “adventure” involving a diesel truck and the local Ritz (we were “green” by conviction long before it was fashionable). We travel as our hosts do: modestly, weighing the value of our purchases; but comfortably, seeking out the special experiences that make the trip. And we are curious. We don't shield ourselves from local cultures: we seek them out.

Bike travel for the exuberant!

Blue Marble’s trips are different from those operated by “luxury” or “deluxe” operators, such as Butterfield & Robinson, Backroads, Ciclismo Classico, or Bikeriders Tours. Our trips are convivial (we work for a diverse group of interesting people), but loosely-structured and individualistic. The “group,” such as it is, provides as much company as you desire (and people to share your experiences with), but it does not replace contact with the people who live in the places to which you travel. Indeed, we travel at an economic level in keeping with the one you observe around you, not in palaces and tour buses isolated from any but a small and inevitably wealthy segment of the population. No doubt as a result, our trips are peopled by fun, entertaining, easy-going folks, curious about and open to their surroundings. You!
